Privacy policy

Race Support ("we", "us") provides a mobile application and this website for the UK ski racing community. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. If you do not agree, please do not use the app or site.

Who we are

The Race Support app is operated by the publisher identified in the App Store and Google Play listings. For privacy enquiries: hello@racesupport.app.

Information we collect

Using the app without an account

You can browse much of the race calendar and public content without signing in. Our servers receive routine technical data needed to deliver the service (for example your device asking for race data over the internet). We do not require your name or email for this.

Account and profile

If you create an account, we process the information you provide (such as email address and display name) and authentication data managed by our service provider. If you sign in with Apple or Google, those providers share account identifiers according to their own policies.

Features that need an account

When you are signed in, we store information needed for features you use, such as races you save, racers you follow, and optional notes you add (for example entry or accommodation reminders). Push notification tokens may be stored if you opt in to alerts, so we can deliver notifications to your device.

Ask and Race Briefing

When you use Ask, we send OpenAI your typed question, relevant recent Ask conversation, race details, and text from race documents such as timetables, seed lists, start lists and results. This material can include racer names, seed points and race results. OpenAI processes it to produce an answer. We store the question and answer in our database with your user ID, race ID, citation count, model and token-usage information so we can apply usage limits and review quality.

Race Briefings are generated from race details and cached race-document text. They do not send your account or profile details to OpenAI, although public race documents can contain racer names. We store the generated briefing in our database.

Voice questions and microphone

If voice input is available, the app uses the microphone only when you choose to record an Ask question. The recording is sent to our server and then to OpenAI for transcription. We do not save the audio recording on our server or in our database; the transcript becomes your Ask question.

Bug reports and Ask feedback

A bug report includes the description and optional steps you enter, your reply email, platform, app version, build number and device model. If you are signed in, it also includes your user ID and account email. Reports are emailed to our support inbox; the app does not attach screenshots or store a separate bug-report record in our database.

Ask feedback includes your rating, question, answer, race details, citations, app version and platform. If you give a negative rating and choose to send it for review, your optional note and account details are emailed to our support inbox. Other ratings are acknowledged without an email or database record.

This website

The racesupport.app homepage may display upcoming races using read-only access to public schedule data. We do not use this page to collect a separate marketing profile from visitors.

How we use information

• To provide, maintain and improve the app and website.
• To authenticate you and sync your saved preferences across devices when you use an account.
• To send push notifications only if you enable them.
• To answer Ask questions, transcribe voice questions and generate Race Briefings.
• To show and manage ads, and to check and manage Gold subscription access.
• To respond to support requests and protect the security and integrity of our services.

Third-party services and links

We use infrastructure providers (including database and authentication services) to host app data. They process information only on our instructions and under appropriate agreements.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free app shows Google AdMob banner and full-screen ads. Gold subscribers see no ads. The app does not ask for Apple's tracking permission and does not access Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA). Google may still collect device and usage information, such as IP address, device type and your interactions with ads, to show, measure and limit ads and prevent fraud.

In the UK and EEA, Google's consent tool asks for your choices before ads can be requested. Where required, you can change them from “Privacy choices” in the app. Read how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Subscriptions (Apple and RevenueCat)

Apple processes iOS subscription payments, and we do not see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check purchase receipts, transaction information and whether Gold is active. RevenueCat first assigns an anonymous app user identifier; when you sign in, the app also gives RevenueCat your Supabase user ID so access can be linked to your account. OpenAI

We use OpenAI's API for Ask answers, voice transcription and Race Briefings, as described above. OpenAI processes that data under its API terms. Read the OpenAI privacy policy.

The app links to third-party websites and services that we do not control, including official race information on GBSki, timing or results providers, mapping or geocoding services, and accommodation booking partners. Opening those links may take you to sites with their own privacy practices and cookies. We are not responsible for those sites.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and app data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can delete your account in the app (Account → Delete Account) or follow the steps on our account deletion page. You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email above; we will respond in line with applicable law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@racesupport.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

The app is intended for families and participants in youth ski racing. If you believe we have collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent under applicable law, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, the United States or other countries where they operate. We rely on appropriate safeguards where required by law (such as standard contractual clauses).

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app or site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
